The Secret to Youthful Skin?

26.03.2015

I was recently at a party with a group of girls and chatting about younger looking skin and healthy shinny hair. I mentioned that I drink collagen and it peaked a few girls interest so I wanted to share one of my secrets to aging. Don’t get me wrong aging is inevitable and we will all go down this path in life but staying vibrant, young and looking amazing along the way is important to me. Eating healthy, including a wide range of nutrient rich plants, good clean proteins along with healthy fats will help you look and feel your best. Can there be more to it than this? There is. My answer is collagen. Beauty comes from the inside. In more ways than just one.

Collagen.1

My 40th birthday is creeping up on me and although it is a milestone in life that some dread, I believe it’s sort of mind over matter. It’s just a number and it’s all about how you live and feel in your own body. “The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes.” Frank Lloyd Wright. I strongly agree, life is more beautiful to me now that it has ever been.

Collagen is an important building block for the skin. When we age we lose elasticity in our skin and it starts to sage due to changes in the connective tissue. Eating whole foods, reducing sugar intake, excessive sun exposure and staying hydrated will reduce the signs of skin aging. We all know that when we make poor food and lifestyle choices it shows in our skin and much of what I educate on comes from making the best food and lifestyle choices we can. However, a little extra help from a supplement can be helpful.

Not only do I love collagen for promoting younger looking skin but it is great for joints and bones along with a tool for weight loss and building lean muscle mass. I love Vital Proteins as they have a superior product that can be added to smoothies but also can be used to gel foods such as custards and I have used it as an egg replacer for my autoimmune clients. Check out their website and see what the research is saying about collagen.
